Interfaith Reconciliation and Cooperation Project in Bangladesh (2008-2009)
The predominant religion in Bangladesh is Islam, with Hinduism and Buddhism constituting minor religions. In Chittagong, the discriminatory attitudes of Muslims against Hindus and Buddhists often create religious tensions. In order to defuse the tension, to avert further violence and to eventually make them work together, IPCR built a water tank first in a Buddhist village and extended the water pipe to Hindu and Muslim villages. Three different religious groups feel the sense of community by managing the water tank together, which will eventually, IPCR firmly believes, lead to interfaith reconciliation and cooperation.
